1) Set cap types

Set up the types of capacitors you want to use. Specify capacitance, ESL including mounting inductance and ESR for all capacitor types.

The DC supply (Drive) and the PCB plane capacitance should also be defined.

2) Define target

Define the target impedance you need from DC up to the frequency you specify. This is normally given by the devices driven from this specific supply rail. You may have to guesstimate, if the device manufacturers does not supply good data on the real requirements.

3) Run Optimizer

The optimizer will try to find the best capacitor mix. The optimizer is randomized and not perfect. Subsequent runs may not yield the same result.

Also notice that only the cap types where QTY is non-zero are used.
